With Coronary Heart Disease being the leading cause of death in Australia, ensuring you take the necessary steps to return to optimal health after experiencing a heart condition is vital.
Research has shown that gradually building up a regular exercise routine and improving cardiovascular fitness, along with following a healthy, balanced diet can have many positive effects. These can all contribute to improved recovery times.
Our bi-weekly, 8 week Cardiac Health Program invites patients to start by participating in initial consultations with both an Exercise Physiologist and a Nutritionist/Dietitian to determine the most effective treatment pathway. Throughout the program you will have the opportunity to participate in both individual and group exercise and education classes.
Patient-centred care is a key component of all Brellah programs, and we will ensure you are always included in your treatment options.
Please contact us to discuss the best program option for you.
Some consultations may qualify for private health insurance rebates.

Who can attend?
This program has been designed specifically for those who:
Do I need a referral to attend the Cardiac Health Program?
You will require a referral from your Cardiologist, GP or letter from your Hospital Admission. Your GP can provide a referral following a Heart Health Check.
Can I use private health to claim for these classes?
Many private health insurers cover our initial screening assessments and classes through their extras cover. Please check your level of cover with your insurance provider.
Who will form part of my treatment team?
In most situations, your treatment team will include your Cardiologist and/or GP, as well as an Exercise Physiologist and a Dietitian or Nutritionist.
How long do I need to attend the program for?
Our Cardiac Health Program has been designed to run for 8 consecutive weeks. In order to get the most out of the program, we recommend that you attend consistently over this period. Our programs encourage a strong community feel and we hope that you will have fun and make new friendships along the way. We will work alongside you and your Cardiologist/GP throughout the program to determine the most suitable plan, and also ensure you are set up with an ongoing support network upon completion.
How many exercise sessions should I do?
It is recommended that you attend an Initial Screening Assessment with an Exercise Physiologist. From here, you will then have the opportunity to attend twice weekly group sessions for 8 weeks. We recommend you attend for the full 8 weeks in order to get the most out of the program.
Does the program include education sessions?
Yes! Our 8-week program also includes fortnightly group education sessions run by our lead Nutritionist.
What should I bring and wear?
We suggest wearing comfortable shoes and clothes to your initial consultations. We also recommend bringing any medical records with you, a list of current medications, and your Medicare and Private Health fund cards.
Do you have parking available?
Yes, we have free on-site car parking at the front and rear of the building. We also have disabled parking and lift access.
