Exercise physiology is a field devoted to the management of a broad range of health problems through physical exercise. A properly tailored exercise physiology program can both prevent future problems as well as manage existing problems, including chronic illness or injury and suboptimal physical function.
Movement and exercise is advantageous not only for improving your physical function and health, but also has demonstrated benefits for mood and mental wellbeing, too.
Here at Brellah, we offer three different exercise physiology programs to cater for everyone. All sessions are led and supervised by our qualified exercise physiologist, who will perform an initial assessment before you book into your program.
A fun, supportive group class designed to help older adults improve balance, strength, mobility, and cardiovascular fitness. Each session includes a combination of functional movements, low-impact aerobic activity, and evidence-based balance and resistance training to support independence and reduce the risk of falls. This program is perfect for seniors looking to stay strong, steady, and socially connected.
Available at: Frenchs Forest and Caringbah
This session is designed for patients who don’t require a high level of attention. Each patient is assessed separately and prescribed an individualised exercise program, which will be completed within a small group setting under the supervision of our exercise physiologist. Supervision ensures correct technique, progression, and safety, while fostering autonomy and consistency in program delivery.
Available at: Frenchs Forest
This program is designed to improve balance, strength, mobility, and cardiovascular fitness, while reducing the risk of falls. While similar to our Soaring Seniors program in goals, it is tailored to those with more limited mobility. Group sizes are capped at smaller numbers to allow for more individualised attention for each participant.
Available at: Caringbah
Thrive Cancer Care is designed for people looking to maintain their health and wellbeing before, during or after their cancer journey. This 8-week program has been developed for people diagnosed with cancer, who are looking for a supportive network and guidance with physical, nutritional and mental health management. It is designed to help with management of symptoms, including weakness, fatigue, pain, function, unsteadiness, sleep quality and stress.
