MBBS, FRACP
David brings extensive experience in caring for patients with geriatric problems, having held a combination of clinical, leadership, and educator roles in geriatric medicine over the past 30 years.
In 1990, David established a geriatric medical service in the South Western Sydney local district Liverpool/Fairfield hospital and played an integral part in growing this service as the department head over many years. In addition to this role, he has served as the director across various other aged care services as well as a senior lecturer at the University of NSW school of community medicine.
Parallel to his clinical work, he has contributed to more than 30 advisory committees responsible for shaping aged care service delivery across NSW, and has authored or co-authored over 20 publications. Of note, he was involved in developing the pivotal Rowland University Dementia Assessment Scale (RUDAS), a clinical tool designed to minimise the impact of language and cultural barriers to accurate assessment of baseline cognitive performance. His other areas of research and clinical interest include dementia assessment, falls prevention, and a multidisciplinary team approach to aged care.
David is motivated by improving the care of older people in the community. Working alongside a patient’s GP, he performs comprehensive geriatric assessments and collaborates with the patient, their family and carers, to develop a multidisciplinary plan aimed at improving health status, function, and quality of life.
Outside of his clinical work, David enjoys bushwalking and watching his son participating in his multiple sporting activities.
David provides in-person care at our Caringbah location.
